I really do enjoy working with the SQL Server2008 R2 Standard client. Something about its familiarity like visual studio makes it pretty easy to use. It's definitely the nicer looking client out there for those user other database clients. The nice thing is that the client is rock solid and I've never had it crash on me. You have the ability to query multiple servers at a time, and the answer sets are preserved per query window - very useful. Its definitely more powerful than Access since it is a fully fledged database. I find sometimes its hard to bring things into or out of the tool. Exporting data can be a pain sometimes, it would be nice as a Microsoft product to export to excel, and vice versa to be able to import with excel files too.
Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Standard 228-09175 offers a wealth of features to help you easily see optimizations, timing, performance, and basic information about all your databases, whether remote or local. it connects easily to most modern coding frameworks, as well! Even if you don't know SQL, you can still easily use the GUI to run basic queries. Nobody can doubt how reliable and powerful SQL 2008 server has become. Today represents the base for every serious deployment over Microsoft software. Features I really enjoy are, high availability, clustering, mirroring... There is a solution for every need, Small or huge. SQL can handle it all.
Like with any relational DB software, you have to understand that specific iteration of the software syntax for queries. This means that users need to be versed in the specific syntax for MSSQL2008R2 standard Server (less of a con, and more of just part of the territory with this type of software). The simple steps for taking and maintaining a backup of the database and to apply the old version immediately to verify any issues in software development. This feature saved me hours of recreating the database during local development process.
