Manage risk through enhanced security and control
`Windows 7 Professional builds on the foundation of Windows Vista by adding more flexibility in securing PCs and data.
Encrypting File System
Protect your files from unwanted access by storing them on your hard disk in an encrypted format.
Enterprises that demand the highest levels of compliance can use AppLocker to dictate which applications are allowed to run on user PCs, providing yet another way to limit the risk of malicious software.
VPN Reconnect While many organizations can use DirectAccess as their only way to connect remotely, some may still need to use VPN technology. By using Internet Key Exchange version 2 (IKEv2) technology to provide consistent VPN connectivity, it automatically reestablishes a VPN when users temporarily lose their Internet connections.
Protect Workers and InfrastructurePeople who run unauthorized software often experience a higher incidence of malware infections and generate more help desk calls. We understand how difficult it can be for IT departments to make sure that user PCs are running only approved, licensed software. With Windows 7, you?ll get even greater control over which applications can run on PCs
Windows 7 Professional helps your people be productive no matter where they are or where the data they need resides.

RemoteApp and Desktop ConnectionsWith RemoteApp and Desktop Connections, you can enable a better remote experience while keeping costs in check and maintaining security and control.
Improved Roaming User ProfilesWindows 7 makes Roaming User Profiles more useful and reliable because you can now automatically synchronize user settings with the data server while workers are still logged on, rather than waiting until after they log off

OK, so I ran XP Pro for years and years. But when MS came out with Office 2013, I knew that I had to upgrade my OS and I wanted no part of Win8, so I chose to (finally) upgrade to Microsoft Windows 7 Professional Upgrade Retail Box. The upgrade itself is a breeze - getting everything back up and running took a week or so, though. I wish that MS OS upgrades were as simple as OS X upgrades on Mac's but, hey, you can't have everything!
I have a macbook and several Linux machines, but Windows 7 has been my daily driver OS almost exclusively. I still use my other machines sure but Microsoft finally got things right with Windows 7 professional (retail box). OS X and Linux still do some things better, but I don't find myself needing to switch back and forth as often anymore. Good job Microsoft and here's hoping Windows 8 brings more great changes to the Windows platform.
I was upset when going to different best buys to try to get windows 7 professionalk (box) because of the huge push to get windows 8 out to people. After a few stores (and even Windows's official website,) I finally checked My Choice Software and was so happy they have it in stock. Simple to use, easy to navigate and still had the windows comfort feel they managed to keep over the years. The accessibility of the software is really sad, i couldn;t find it anywhere
