Microsoft Windows Server 2012 License 5 Device CALs all about Hyper-V for me, with Nano bringing Docker ideas to a Windows environment. The licensing model change is a pain, my old 2010 Hyper-V host from 2010 is incompatible due to core count limits for Datacenter. Understandable, but a bit of a disappointment. The writing was on the wall during the CTP, so my new 2011 primary is good to go, 2018 will bring a similarly constrained host configuration. The new features force time be spent in a testing environment, Windows Server is scaling out past the smaller shops that don't have the infrastructure to support on-site pre-deployment testing and planning. With the emphasis on off-prem / cloud services, I can see why this is, but it is a bit jarring to realize a hundred user company is too small for their own server(s). The UI and emphasis on PowerShell make 2010R2 feel old already, and I thought PowerShell was baked in deeply back then! All to the better, but another barrier for small shops that don't have enough bodies to make strong functional divisions in job roles. Still not sold on Storage Spaces vs more established alternatives (StarWind), that's what labs are for! Excellent performance, as expected. A genuine and useful improvement warranting an upgrade in 2016.
I'm new to Microsoft Windows Server 2012 License 5 Device CALs . I just setup a single server running on my test network. First impressions are great. Initial setup was hands down the fastest I've experienced. I had set aside a lot more time than I actually needed. Everything you expect is present. Getting setup on my network was a breeze. So far I've done a little testing with the containers functionality. This is more just for fun as I don't think it will provide a ton of value in our cloud heavy infrastructure, but the concept is very interesting. Since then, really the only thing I've done is brush off my PowerShell skills. To say I'm rusty would be putting it nicely. Definitely see a PowerShell refresher class in my future.
I am currently using Microsoft Windows Server 2012 License 5 Device CALs to run my home lab and I love the HyperV server tweeks as well as the Core installation and full installation versions. Performance is great, very stable, updating process is much simpler and seems faster. it is a very very good software allowing acces to every software on my computer together with huge clkoud storage so i don;t have to worry my data will be lost due to techincal issues. My choice software delivered this software quickly and safely and i was pleased with their customer support.
