Microsoft Office 2003 was first released in October 2003. It was the successor to Office XP and was the main office product for four years before being replaced by Office 2007. Office 2003 introduced users to a variety of new features including information rights management, collaborative features, improved support and Office Online services. It also brought two new products to the Office lineup: InfoPath and OneNote. Microsoft Office 2003 was the last version of the productivity suite to include the menu bar and toolbars across all programs.

Familiar Interface

Microsoft Office 2003 features a familiar interface that long-time Microsoft users love. The program includes menu bars and toolbars across all platforms, giving users quick access to some of the most commonly used tools and actions. Because of the familiar design, Microsoft Office 2003 is considered one of the easiest program to learn and to begin using.

In addition to the familiar look of the software, the programs also come packed with built-in templates and tools allowing users to jump right in and start creating without needing to learn the program. The user-friendly design virtually eliminates any learning curve and makes it easy for users of all skill levels to create professional-looking documents, presentations and spreadsheets.

New Applications

Microsoft Office 2003 includes two new applications: InfoPath and OneNote. InfoPath is a program for designing, distributing, filling and submitting electronic forms. These forms may contain structured data which can later be put into an Excel spreadsheet. OneNote is a note-taking program that allows users to create and organize their notes, diagrams, graphics and more in one convenient location.

Microsoft Office 2003 also includes a new Picture Manager feature that allows users to open, edit, manage and share digital images in the suite’s core programs. This eliminates the need for third party photo editing software and allows users to create image-rich documents in minutes.
